New Day, First Post.

Yesterday: I meant to update this last night, but anyways, I'm almost two months into practice now, and loving it. I'm working on Mozart's - Rondo Alla Turca & Chopin's Prelude op.28 no.7. Both pieces have a certain 'simple' difficulty to them; the Chopin Prelude being one of the more deceiving songs I've learned in a while. My hands are stressing early on with the Mozart, so I'll be looking into technique yet again and working on trying to get the tempo correct for Chopin's Prelude (more later) ...
Taking a look at the sheet music for either pieces, especially Chopin, one might think to themself  "Seems simple enough". Neither are pieces that I would overwhelm myself by trying to sight read (being that my sight reading level is quite low, considering I taught myself and learned mainly by ear).
You never truly understand the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover" until you experience it. Even then so, if you are stubborn like me or simply just enjoy learning using unorthodox methods (I won't say 'hard' way, because sometimes the 'hard' way can actually be one of the easiest. Remember, "always work smarter, not harder")... nevertheless though, at some point you will be tested again; take a look through the book this time and read a bit before you so anxiously await to judge it, you may be surprised of the outcome of what an open mind can do to positively affect your daily life.

Alright, so one of the things I'd like to start off with is the purpose of these posts. These posts are made not only to potentially inform and/or motivate others who play piano, but also to help me keep track of my progress and see if I could approach my practice more systematically. It is these thoughts of approaching practice differently and a special thanks to a friend who helped give me that extra push to actually following through with having a blog. I hope that everybody will be able to utilize this blog. Not only will I update the status of my daily practicing, but also I'm always finding useful information on technique, musicality, etc. Everyone is welcome, just please understand that the focus of this blog will be my journey and discoveries through my piano lessons, practicing, and whatever useful information I find along the way.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog...keep checking back for updates!

For some time now, I have been too embarrassed to post this full performance, because of how badly I messed up in the piece. However, nearly a year later, I look back at this and realize that aside from the fact that I had made so many errors, I still managed to keep my composure and finish the piece. For my first recital, maybe forgetting 2-4 bars of a piece because of nerves is not so bad after all?
